– every member has the same sacred charge (accepted and promised to rise to it at baptism – Alma 18:8)

– promise to be witness wherever you go

– promised to become charitable, become witnesses of God, endure to the end

– Book of Mormon: best guide to learn how well we are doing and how to do bettter

– take courage from Moroni’s example of endurance

– first step to take us to full conversion is faith

– drink deeply and often from Book of Mormon’s pages

Elder Robert Hales

– too often we pray to have patience but we want it RIGHT NOW

– purpose of life on earth: grow, develop, be strengthened through our own experiences

– “Thy will be done.”

– sometimes you don’t receive an answer to prayer because the Lord knows you’re not ready

– Lord’s blessings are eternal not temporal

– “In my Gethsemane and in yours, we are not alone.”

Elder Tad R. Callister

– no middle ground in Book of Mormon

– Bible is one witness of Jesus Christ and BOM is another (acts as confirming, clarifying, unifying witness of doctrines taught in the Bible)

– lack of belief in continuing revelation is domino that cause fall of correct doctrine

Sister Elaine Dalton

– pop culture tries to erode and demean your eternal role as patriach and father

– father: guardians of home, wife and children (must be guardians of virtue)

– personal purity will give you power

– priesthood sets men apart

– fathers: daughter’s hero

– fathers have been entrusted with Heavenly Father’s royal daughters

– father’s testimony has powerful influence on daughters

– principle of modesty is a protection

* THE MOST IMPORTANT THING A FATHER CAN DO FOR HIS DAUGHTER IS TO LOVE HER MOTHER *

Elder Ballard

– too many people don’t understand correctly that Mormon refers to members of the Church

– important to use FULL name of the church (mormon: nickname GIVEN)

– do we realize how blessed we are to take upon us the name of God’s beloved and only begotten Son?

– saints means its members follow Him and strive to do His will

President Monson

– essential that we reject anything that doesn’t conform to our standards

– His constancy is something we can rely on

– nothing can bring more joy in our lives or peace to our souls than the Spirit

– necessary that we communicate with God in prayer

– nothing brings more joy than spirit we receive when following Christ and keeping his commandments

– rewards are spiritually deserved (must be vigilant)

– 10 commandments NOT 10 creative suggestions (although world has changed, laws of God remain constant)

AFTERNOON SESSION

Elder Nelson

– covenant is a sacred promise with God

– if one accepts terms of the covenants, they can receive blessings of that covenant

– covenants are part of fulness of His Gospel

– some of us are literal seed, others are adopted but all are equal to the Lord

– our responsibility to help fulfill Abrahamic covenant

Elder Oaks

– when you consider all the Savior has done for us, don’t you have reasons to come back to church to worship and serve Him?

– Jesus always honored the Father and followed Him

– we return to the Father by doing His will

– our citizenship is in His church and His gospel and we should not use a visa to visit Babylon or act like one of it’s citizens

Elder Richardson

– those who teach after manner of the spirit understand they teach people, not lessons

– teach in a way that doesn’t restrict learning

– the Holy Ghost is the teacher

– Holy Ghost can’t learn for us, feel for us, or act for us

President Monson

– decisions determine destiny (can’t make eternal decisions without eternal consequences)

Elder Bennett

– can’t successfully choose both safety of righteousness and danger of worldliness

– our safety depends on choosing to follow insights we gain during daily scripture study and prayer, guidance of Holy Ghost, and prophetic counsel

– seeking divine direction through prayer/scriptures vs. being busy/apathetic and refusing to converse with God

– following counsel of prophets vs. following worldly ways and opposing opinions

– seek guidance from Holy Ghost to guide thoughts, feelings and actions/ consistently reach out to assist, serve and rescue others

– eternal destiny will not be result of chance, but of choice

Elder J. Devin Cornish

– God won’t infringe on our agency; we must ask for His help (prayer)

– God our Father is not a feeling or an idea or a force

– prayer, like learning a foreign language, takes practice and effort

Elder Cook

– scriptures are clear: those who are righteous, follow the Savior, and keep His commandments will prosper in theland

– adverse results in this mortal life aren’t evidence of a lack of faith or of an imperfection in Father’s plan

– challenges can come from agency of others, disobedience or “refiner’s fire” (because we need them)

– “Be still and know that I am God.”

– there is no chance, no fate, no destiny that can circumvent or hinder, or control the firm resolve of a determined soul

– the atonement covers all unfairness of life

President Monson 

– “may God give each of us strength and determination to do our part in His plan and to do it well.”

– gospel of Jesus Christ gives meaning and purpose to our lives

– may we realize how close to us He is willing to come

– God loves each of us and will bless us as we strive to keep His commandments and seek him through prayer
